Local Nature

Whatever your interest in wildlife, there is bound to be something in SW Scotland to delight and amaze.  Ospreys and red kites have been reintroduced to the area, while geese and wildfowl are regular winter visitors to the Solway coast.  Wild goats and red deer roam the hillsides near Clatteringshaws and this corner of Scotland is one of the few places in the UK where red squirrels can be seen.
This week we have been particularly excited to see in our garden, a flock of waxwing, rare visitors to Britain.
